Employee enagagement & staff networks
Staff Networks were part of the client’s (a public sector organisation) employee engagement strategy. The groups were identified as a mechanism to advance equality in the organisation. A previous attempt to establish staff networks had been unsuccessful and there was a need to ensure the groups were
re-established with a clear identity, sense of purpose and with an effective communications plan.
Roma Thomas researched best practice in relation to establishing staff networks and drew up model terms of reference and guidelines for the groups. She also devised a communications strategy and plan to raise the profile of the groups and attract members. She produced branded materials and organised a number of staff events which helped to establish the reputation of the groups as a place for dialogue, exchange of ideas and staff development.
Seven Staff network groups are now well established within the organisation with high levels of awareness among employees. Occasions such as Black History month, International Women’s week, Lesbian & Gay History month and European Day of Disabled People were used to raise the profile of the groups
with a highly successful programme of events, publications and publicity campaigns.
